Our Partial Hospitalization Program
For those who do not need round-the-clock care.
The partial hospitalization program at Sierra at Scottsdale Outpatient Care provides highly structured, daylong services through which clients can address behavioral health concerns in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Our PHP near Phoenix is available for adults age 18 and older who are suffering from mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder. We also offer programming for individuals who may be struggling with co-occurring addiction concerns. The program meets five days a week for five to six hours each day, and lunch is provided. Each client’s length of stay depends on their needs and the progress they make while in treatment. However, most people take part in outpatient treatment for approximately two to three weeks.
Our partial hospitalization program in Scottsdale is run by a number of professionals who are experts in the field of behavioral health. Social workers, counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists provide well-rounded care for clients. Additionally, we have a registered dietitian on staff, as well as team members who are specially trained in trauma-informed yoga and equine therapy. - Family therapy: This may be included in a client’s treatment plan if the therapist recommends it or a client specifically requests it. These sessions are led by a licensed clinician and typically occur once a week.
- Experiential therapies: Clients can participate in trauma-informed yoga and equine therapy on a weekly basis. Qualified professionals lead these therapies.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program
Serving adults age 18 and older who are struggling with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder.
Our IOP can also support people who have a mental health concern and a co-occurring addiction. The IOP at Sierra at Scottsdale offers a half day of highly structured behavioral health treatment. Many people step down to our IOP from our partial hospitalization program, while others start their healing journey at the IOP level.
People can expect to participate in the IOP at our outpatient center near Phoenix, Arizona, four days a week for three hours per day for four to six weeks. Therapeutic services are delivered by an expert team that may consist of a psychologist, licensed master’s-level social workers, licensed clinical social workers and registered dietitians. Not everyone responds to therapy the same way, so we ensure that each person follows a treatment plan that we customize to their needs. Before starting treatment, each person undergoes a comprehensive evaluation that informs the care they receive during their time in our IOP at Sierra at Scottsdale.
Group therapy is the primary treatment method in our IOP. In sessions, group leaders guide discussions on topics such as distress tolerance, emotion regulation and healthy body image. We use a variety of evidence-based therapies during group sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS) therapy and motivational interviewing (MI). IOP clients also take part in individual counseling every other week.
